Tyandaga Burlington Neighbourhood

Tyandaga is unique in Burlington because of its topography. Nestled against the Niagara Escarpment, the streets here roll and wind, offering incredible views of the city and the bay. It’s a community built around a golf course, known for its spacious lots and distinct architecture that breaks the mold of the typical "cookie-cutter" subdivision.

Demographics

Tyandaga has historically been an older demographic of original owners, but that is changing rapidly. We are seeing a huge influx of younger families who appreciate the yard space and sturdy construction of these homes. It’s a quiet, neighbourly area where people tend to stay for decades.

Schools

The neighbourhood is served by St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School and other nearby schools like Paul A. Fisher. While the schools are solid, the real draw here is the lifestyle; many families here are willing to drive a bit further for specialized programs because they love the location so much.

Parks & Recreation

The Tyandaga Municipal Golf Course winds right through the neighbourhood, meaning many backyards open up onto the fairway. For hikers, Kerncliff Park is a hidden gem—it’s an old quarry turned into a nature sanctuary with boardwalks and trails that connect to the Bruce Trail. It feels like you are in Muskoka.

Shopping & Dining

Tyandaga is primarily residential, but it is incredibly convenient. You are right at the corner of Brant Street and Upper Middle, giving you access to the Power Centre (Cineplex, restaurants, shopping) and you are just a quick drive down Brant Street to the waterfront. The local Costco is also very close, which is a major bonus for families.

Transit Access

This is arguably the best location in Burlington for highway access. You can hop onto the 403/QEW or the 407 in under two minutes from most homes here. The Burlington GO station is the closest train link, a short drive south.

Types of Homes Available

  • Mid-Century Splits: You will see a lot of 4-level backsplits and side-splits here, built in the 70s and 80s. They offer incredible square footage that isn't always obvious from the curb.
  • Ravine & Golf Course Lots: Premium homes back onto the creek or the golf course. These lots command a significant premium and offer total privacy.
  • Custom Renovations: Because the "bones" of these homes are so good, many buyers are gutting the interiors to create modern open-concept masterpieces.

Recent Market Trends

Tyandaga offers excellent value per square foot compared to the south end. Prices have been rising as buyers realize they can get a significantly larger lot here than in the newer northern subdivisions like Alton Village.

Why People Love Living Here

It’s the privacy. The streets are quiet, the trees are mature, and you don't feel like you are looking into your neighbour's kitchen. The views of the lake from the higher streets on a clear day are absolutely breathtaking.
